Carolyn, they can be a shrub or small trees, they are also call spindle tree, the second image is of the pink fruits with orange-pink seeds. I have a macro of the fruit in a previous post from 2010 http://onbotanicalphotography.blogspot.com/2010/12/euonymus-hamiltonianus.html
